Tonsillitis in october, no abscess & treated with penicillin v. ever since, time to time i can taste pus in throat along with thickened mucus at back of nose/throat. no pain only bad taste of pus. had peritonsilar abscess 2 yr ago so i remember taste?

It is unusual or impossible to have tonsillar abscess with pus and you do not have other symptoms such as fever, sore throat, pain with swallowing, etc. Your symptoms are more consistent with post nasal drip from sinus problem.
