A member asked:

Can 'nonspecific white matter changes' seen coincidentally on mri be congenital and won't develop in the future? mri was ordered for neuro unrelated symptom as stated by the doc. symptoms were feet burning doc expect it from vit deficiency?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Most likely neurological reason for burning feet would be secondary to peripheral neuropathy, and a vitamin deficiency could be one explanation. If there are nonspecific "white matter changes", on MRI, these could be due to smoking, migraine, micro-vascular angiopathy, prior head injury, aging, etc., but not uncommonly, an accessible interpretation is a challenge.
