A member asked:

Sex when ovulating. took aftera about 2 or so hours later. what are the odds of it working when ovulating? can an iud now be used just in case the pill failed? would that be the better option?

If your calculation of ovulation is correct the there is an even chance. inserting IUD now 'if the pill fails' is late. The best option for you should be after consultation with your MD/Gyn suiting your needs.

If you take it within 72 hours after you've had unprotected sex, levonorgestrel can reduce the risk of pregnancy by up to 89%. If you take Plan B One-Step or equivalent within 24 hours, it is about 95% effective. But you should know that Plan B One-Step or equivalent is not as effective as regular contraception.
