Assuming that the need for a "booster shot" for COVID vaccines means that a person is "fully vaccinated", the booster may be protective for serious complications of COVID, but it is still statistically rare for a re-infection to occur in a fully vaccinated individual. The "booster" shot may have some symptoms attached, but can only help reinforce maximum immunity.
