If you are constipated you may take a fiber laxative like Metamucil and drink enough water daily so that your urine is colorless. For the long term you may try to increase your intake of fiber foods. Consult a gastroenterologist. Appropriate testing will be performed in order to make a diagnosis,advise, treat & provide follow-up care. You may be experiencing diverticulitis, especially if there's associated abdominal tenderness. If you haven't had a colonoscopy for years, one may be eventually recommended after diverticulitis, if present,has resolved. Change in BM's needs colon check also
