People with IBS have a very active brain- gut relationship. If you can predict symptoms may develop when confronting certain circumstances, you could try taking an antispasmodic gi medication like ducyclomine as well as a gas buildup preventative like simethicone in advance. Drinking hot water breaks down gas. Discuss this with your physician or gastroenterologist.
