Taking Misoprostol to facilitate IUD removal via cervical "ripening" may not be necessary if the procedure is going to be done "under general anesthesia". With any manipulation of the uterus (removing and reinserting a "new" IUD) Misoprostol may make such less painful, but there will be sensitivity post removal/reinsertion. Ask your GYN about low dose oral bcp's, instead of a new IUD.
