A member asked:

I have my gyno checkup the same week as my period next week. should i start my new pack of pills so my pap smear results aren't altered?

You can: Yes, I would just stay on the active pills of the BCP pack and that way avoid your menses at that time. Do not take the sugar pills or placebo pills at the end of the first pack and just skip right to the active pills of the second pack. You can do this anytime you want to avoid having your menses (i.e. for a vacation). The liquid based Pap smears are not affected by light bleeding though.
