Your symptoms after swallowing a bottle cap merit an immediate visit to a hospital Emergency Dept for an exam, including X-Rays to determine the location of the foreign body (bottle cap). A consult by a gastroenterologist, pulmonologist or otolaryngologist might be needed, based upon the location of the object, to decide on its removal. Finally, technically, you're an adult.

If you can breathe, have no cough, or stomach pain, you may watch and wait. You will likely pass the bottle cap without any harm to your health.
