What are the other advantages of benzoyl peroxide body wash over creams and gels, besides the one advantage that "wash-off treatment usually doesnt cause the same level of initial skin peeling"?

Advantage???? look at these as doing different things. The BP body wash contain chemicals that allow loose skin cells to be removed from the skin surface more than simple washing & thus help uncover deeper areas for treatment. Much of the other gels/creams dig down deeper into layers that still remain plugging pores. The effect of their use differs and can lead to more side effects like burns.
