Was on acutane for 7 months. as i got to max dose, started feeling stiffness all over, particularly in back and neck. also started experiencing pain and popping in my left forearm. been off 3 weeks. when can i expect the side effects to subside?

It may be worthwhile to determine if you have elevation of muscle enzymes that are seen in serious muscle pathology. If not elevated, the side effects of muscle & bone pain from accutane usually resolve after a few weeks of discontinuing the medication. Consult a rheumatologist as needed.

Accutane can cause muscle and joint pains and inflammation. Recommend you notify your dermatologist or doctor who prescribed the Accutane. Agree with referral to rheumatology if symptoms persist
