A member asked:

A clinician said that a person who watches tv, does less socially and go to stores for the most part, who may be retired to a slower pace of living in florida, could actually have their brain decrease in size. can this be true or a scare tactic?

Best to to to pubmed.gov and enter TV AND brain size and read the worlds literature on it. This discuss with your own Dr. TV does take away from interacting with real people. It is good to interact. Makes you feel human.

Not necessarily watching tv, but less social interaction overall has become the focus of research lately as being linked to dementia and its progression. A good study to read is the Harvard Aging Brain Study with rather equivocal results. Definitely not meant to scare you, rather a general worry from your clinician.
