Depends...: Early onset w/ insidious symptoms (gradual onset) & poor premorbid functioning (poor social skills & school performance, odd cognitions, psychomotor probs, ) predict worse outcomes & chronic probs. Ongoing medication is crucial in helping ppl function & adapt. Therapy is helpful but not as helpful as meds. Family support is important. Med side effects such as tardive & diabetes are a concern.
