It is usually painful so if you do not have pain, the diagnosis may be inaccurate. If you have pain, it can be treated with OTC analgesics such as Aleve, Advit, etc. Not everyone will a narcotic pain pill be prescribed. Was antiviral therapy, Acyclovir or Famvir, prescribed?

The first medication is an anti-viral medication and it should be started as soon as possible. Injection with local anesthetic and steroids is frequently performed as are sympathetic nerve blocks. See a physician As soon as possible.
