Losing restful sleep on occasions is not harmful, but sustained loss of sleep may significantly affect body functions, change rapid adaptation to circumstances requiring higher cerebral function.

Ok for when needed, such as studying or finishing a project, not as good for a habit. Poor sleep hygiene may result in poor intellectual performance and worsen anxiety/ depression among others.
