A member asked:

I rubbed off a mole and all that is left is a very dark spot that is darker than the rest of my skin . the spot has still been there although its been a year. could this be post inflammatory pigmentation?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

If indeed this was a mole, and not some other superficial skin growth, and the area remains dark, I suggest that you have the lesion examined by a dermatologist, and possibly bxed to r/o any sig pathology. Although Post inflam pigmentation is possible, it's better to be sure of this dx with a visit to your doc.
