For a healthy person not on any medication, the most common cause of low sodium is high fluid intake but eating less animal protein products. You cut down fluid intake to 1.2 liters or less a day if you have an average BMI and have sodium retested in 2 weeks. Because you are aware about this so your doctor likely already checked 2 common hormones (thyroid and adrenal) for ruling out the cause.
