I'm having a sharp pain over my right eye lasting less than 10 seconds. what's causing it?

This could be neuralgia of the supraorbital nerve. It should resolve on its own in a few days. It shouldn't cause any visual symptoms however. If it does,if a rash appears or if pains persist beyond a few days, consult an ophthalmologist.

Sometimes it's very hard to localize pain around the eye. This could be anything from a sinus issue to a neuralgia to angle closure to dry eyes to nothing at all. If it's a one off and not associated with vision changes, I wouldn't worry. If it persists or vision changes, see an ophthalmologist
