Corneal abrasion : If it is new since you've woken up today, it's possible you may have a corneal abrasion. If it is chronic, it may be related to dry eyes. You should consider seeing an ophthalmologist if you feel it is serious.

Sharp pain: The cells of the eye, specially the cornea get replaced every two weeks or so. The sharp quick pain is from the old cells being replace and sloughing off the surface of the eye. This iscompletely normal, no need to worry.
