A member asked:

My pap smear results came back as cin 1. my doctor recommended no treatment, just another screening after 6 months. what i didnt have a chance to ask them is can i safely try for a baby now or should i wait for the results of the next screening?

"CIN I" is a benign condition, but can change over time to a pre-malignant condition requiring cervical treatment for dysplasia, which is not always possible with pregnancy. Best is to wait six months and get a repeat pap smear and/or colposcopy to make sure a pregnancy is not affected.

Agree with Dr. Berryman. Get HPV vaccination to prevent infection with other strains of HPV. Do keep your appointment for the repeat PAP. Wish you good health!
