The important task is to determine the underlying cause of the premature beats. Perhaps the most efficient approach would be to see a cardiologist who could take a careful history, EKG, chest X-rays, blood tests, including thyroid function, and perform an echocardiogram. Hypertension, valvular heart disease and hyperthyroidism are common causes. A Holter monitor test might be required.

No such number. PACS(premature atrial contractions) are not necessarily indicative pf an underlying heart problem. May also be unrelated to any cardiac problem. non-cardiac causes may include drugs prescription, or non-prescription. Alcohol, smoking are additional causes in some individual. First get evaluated by your doctor with a detailed history, examination and ECG. May need a Holter. Good luc
