A member asked:

Can someone interpret what type of breast condition my us indicates. birads 2. palpable abnormality reveals ill defined hypoechoic area in superficial subcutaneous fat. 3x3x3 mm. no mass . underlying tissue unremarkable. could this be cancer?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

. There are some abnormalities here which are of concern. If there is a palpable mass then a biopsy may be indicated. But the US does not show any mass. The 3x3mm abnormality is too small to worry about right now. Given the young age I am inclined to call the reported abnormalities as benign. But I would suggest follow up Ultrasound in 6 months and a mammogram annually for 2-3 years .
