If your menstrual periods are quite regular & you know when the last one was, & if you are pretty sure of the approximate date you conceived, you can get a pretty good idea of how many weeks along you are. If not, a Dr exam, ultrasound, & possibly a quantitative HCG test (measures pregnancy hormone level) can tell.

The patients I have seen who have their gestational weeks extremely accurate, even before confirming with blood test and sonogram, are those who use a method of natural family planning and keep their fertility charts updated and annotated with intercourse days. I encourage my patients who are open to NFP to formally learn a method. Creighton Model FertilityCare System is one of them.
