My nephew, 21, was found having thymic hyperplasia in his ct scan, the doctor said it is non-specific and there is nothing to worry. may i know what condition is this and should we really be worried about it?

The condition is associated with inflammation of the thymus. It may also be related to Thyroid disease or an autoimmune disorder. Additional testing to screen for Myasthenia graves and Thyroid disease may be indicated. Please follow up with your physician.

It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. Why was CT done? What other symptoms, if any, does he have. It would be prudent to see a doctor for an in person evaluation. Wish you good health!
