A member asked:

What makes atrophic autoimmune gastritis advanced? if i have advanced aag, what would be found in biopsies and blood work to determine the stage?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Biopsy would confirm the diagnosis of atrophy. Biopsies from multiple sites could be useful in ruling out pre-malignant condition, Blood tests are not likely to be useful for the condition, per se, however some tests may be needed to check your nutritional status, especially Vitamin B12.
