A member asked:

I have cfs. my flare ups always feel like viral infections. swollen glands, aches, weakness for days in a row even when bloodwork is normal. is this my immune system over reacting to things? what can i do to minimize reactions? can't take meds?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

"Chronic fatigue syndrome" ("CFS") is probably a reaction to multiple types of viral infection, each of which can cause overlapping illnesses similar to what is described in your question. Poor immune response and increased production of reverse T3 tend to accentuate the symptoms. So far there is no definitive treatment, but anti-inflammatory meds like ibuprofen may help.
