You can wait : Occipital glands are lymph nodes that drain the ear and can become swollen due to an infection and even after the infection subsides it takes a while before they subside in size After you finish your antibiotic course you can certainly see your doctor as a follow up

Yes: Yes, sounds like infection may not be under control. Sounds like you need to watch your blood sugars closely as well.

I had strep throat with a middle ear infection for 18 days. I completed an amoxicillin course of 20 tablets, and because of the middle ear I had to do myringotomy too, but even after that I still have a phlegm cough , and sore throat. Is this serious?
