A member asked:

Doctor suspected chlymydia or gonorrhea, it was a hernia they prescribed me doxycycline and ciprofloxacin for 10 days just incase, i take it that they have to be taken together twice a day, because both antibiotics so say twice a day on the box?

Doxycycline alone cures chlamydia and cipro has no effect. Neither is reliable against gonorrhea. If the diagnosis turned out to be a hernia, probably you don't need either drug, even "just in case", but check with your doctor before stopping. If continued, it's OK to take both together, but you don't have to. For example, maybe doxy at say 7 am and 7 pm, and cipro at 10 am and 10 pm. Or whenever.

Hernia and suspected chlamydia & GC are entirely different things. Hernia requires surgery or observation. The others require medication and should be treated with the help of proper testing and with different antibiotics. Ask your Md for explanation or see a nother one
