Is it possible to have dry eye symptoms in one eye only? my eye feels irritated soon after using phone, have checked for all possible causes, doc says everything is fine & suggested to use systane drops, but they give temporary relieve. what to do?

A dry eye sensation can be the result of multiple issues, including the source of tears, the system of ducts, foreign bodies, allergies , infections and other factors. It's best to seek another evaluation by an ophthalmologist to search for the underlying cause of this symptom.

Yes, dry eye in one eye only is possible. See an eye MD specialist, not an optometrist. Establish the cause of the dry eye to guide treatment. Since Systane drops help but are insufficient, you may need a punctum plug which blocks the lower drain that drains tears off the surface of the eye. That will keep both the tears you make and the artificial tears you add longer on the surface of your eye.
