Good choice: Systane is a gentle and long lasting tear substitute for eyes that are dry. The acid listed on the ingredients is to neutralize the drop which is fact very slightly alkaline - not to a degree that you would notice. It has had significant clinical testing and long successful use. It is helpful to sooth the irritation which causes eye redness. Go for it.

Good for dry eyes: Sustained ultra 3 to 4 a day should help. A fish oil supplement is also helpful . You may also require restasis in the future. It would be helpful to see an ophthalmologist and let him/her do a dry eye analysis. You should have your tear osmolarity measured.
