A member asked:

Does induction cause placenta abruption? i got induced at 39 weeks and had a placenta abruption during induction. and had a emergency c section. and doc said i had low placenta but i didn't know. but i think this happened cause the induction?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

The statement of your "having a low placenta" can mean that the placenta has grown over a portion of the cervical canal. and depending on how labor induction (contractions) influence the attachment of the rest of the placenta, an abruption (separation of the placenta) may occur, making emergent delivery (C-section) necessary.
