If you have no more cough and do not get a fever, you do not need to call your doctor or go to the ER. You may take acetaminophen for the headache, no more than 4 g in one day and no alcohol. Wish you good health.

When you were coughing, you experienced a Valsalva reaction which triggered the headache. You may well be susceptible to tension or migraine headaches, but at this time, there appears no need for vigorous medical intervention. Simple analgesics should stabilize. Do notify your doctor, however, of what occurred.
