I choked on food that seemed not to go down. what should i eat till it feels better. i coughed out the food but my throat is uncomfortable. what should i look out for?

You probably bruised/irritated your tissues. Take 1 200mg anti-inflammatory analgesic ibuprofen tablet 4x/day w meals or lots of water. Eat soft diet (pudding, scrambled eggs, tuna salad, ice cream, etc) until you feel better. High protein liquid supplement (Boost, Ensure, etc) will provide the building blocks needed for more rapid healing. Stay well hydrated. Problem should ease in 3 days.

Hello, choking on food tells me that there may be a problem with your esophagus. These can occur from a number of causes and needs to be evaluated. If the food bolus doesn’t make its way to the stomach, then pain, anxiety and possibly choking or aspiration could occur. If it won’t pass up or down, you’ll need to go to the ER. If your ok, stick to a soft diet and call your doctor for advice.
