So, ive been trying to get past this hiv scare(awaiting most recent 49 day result but negative @ 40 days). however, i just read that corticosteroids can affect antibody production. i take advair 250mg twice a day! should i take rna test instead????

Advair inhaler less likely inhibits antibody response. If you want to make sure, just have the fourth-generation HIV test done. This test detects both HIV antibody and HIV p24 antigen.

Very little of any inhaled steroid is absorbed systemically-most of the steroid dose from the inhaler stays in the airways where it reduces inflammation. The steroid inhalation will not significantly decrease antibody production so it will not affect your HIV test. Best of luck to you!
