Hello, a few months ago i developed excess phlegm in lungs and it has become a real nuisance. i am a healthy 59 year-old, fit and a total non-smoker (i don't smoke anything). i believe it maybe allergy related?

It is possible that allergy related if you usually have similar symptoms same time of the year or in similar circumstances. Otherwise unexplained symptoms lasting more than few weeks have to be questioned and starting with your doc for an exam and detailed history will be best at this point.

Chronic phlegm production may be due to post nasal drip. Rinse nasal passages with saline and discuss allergy testing. If there is excessive sputum, a chest image is recommended and a sputum culture. Watch for fever and discuss post COVID-19 syndrome with your physician.
