My son had 2 cts of his brain in the er.both times they had me go in the room with him & hold his head still so he didnt move. i was right against the machine & my hands were prob scanned. was i exposed to radiation to? is this a common thing to do?

You were exposed to a very small amount of radiation during the CT scans-especially true if your hands were scanned. You can ask for a lead covering for yourself if you are ever asked to do this again. How old is your son? For a very young child, you holding his head likely helped to keep him calm as well as still. I hope your son is doing well. I too have been in same situation. Yes your hand was exposed to radiation and that amount of radiation dose, at most, is as if you had to have a CT of your arm and hand. Hence, it should be tolerable for you in the fourth decade of your life.
