Derm Visit Good Idea: A dermatologist is the best choice to first evaluate a mole for cancer. In general, the dermatologist will do a biopsy if there is concern for cancer. Then the pathologist will review biopsy slides of the mole to check for cancer. If the other cancerous cells were found on a pap smear, the mole will most likely not be related.
