It is difficult to advise you because you don’t say where your burning sensation and itchiness is located. So, you should see your doctor and get this evaluated to see if something other than an over the counter medicine would be helpful. Best of luck to you!

It is not clear if the itchiness is localized or all over the body, in any case the burning sensation suggest nerve vitamin especially the B-Vitamins (B-12, b-6, B-2) deficiencies. A visit to the PCP or Neurologist for Examination and Labs will help sort things out faster.

Would not be unusual presentation for a widespread peripheral neuropathy, especially one involving small fibers. If a rash or skin eruption is present, a dermatologist would be useful, but otherwise, a neurologist would be indicated.

Agree with Dr M that this could be a neuropathy. If it is localized to one side of the body it could possibly be post-herpetic neuralgia (even if you never had any obvious shingles rash) & a neurologist definitely can help. If it is localized & you haven’t tried topical capsaicin cream (over the counter) do try that in the meantime
