There are a multitude of side effects and adverse reactions that occur with metformin, some serious. It causes headaches in 6% of patients but that's just one of the lesser problems. Its complications become more concerning with age or if you have kidney impairment. Ask your doctor why the change (four 250 mg pills = one 1000 mg pill) and about alternatives to controlling your blood sugars.
