Levels between 5.7 and 6.4 indicate prediabetes. You should strive to get the A1c under 5.7 by adhering to a proper diet, attaining ideal weight and getting regular exercise. A normal A1C level is below 5.7%, a level of 5.7% to 6.4% indicates prediabetes. Losing about 10% body weight, exercising at least 150 minutes a week and consulting nutritionist about diet are imperative. If that does not help, it would be prudent to see a doctor and consider taking medication.
