A 37-year-old female asked:

I shaved 'there' yesterday morning and noticed a little bump before bed. it feels like 'stuck' hair, so i am guessing it is an ingrown hair from shaving 'there'. how can i reduce the pain and swelling?

Hot compresses might help...simply run tolerably hot water over your wash cloth, wring it out, fold, then apply to the affected area for a few minutes at a time. Repeat this hourly during the daytime, if convenient to do so. The heat enhances blood flow to the area. If the pain worsens, it warrants a visit to one's physician.

Another to treat would be with hot sitz baths a few times per day for about 10-15 mins. Following each soak, apply antibacterial ointment on the lesion. If no better in few days, see dermatologist.
