Can schizophrenia be genetic? both my mother and brother have it, they both look alike and are both left handed, is that just coincidence?

certain mental illnesses can run in families as can physical resemblance- It all depends on the genes passed on.It is difficult to say definitively that it is one or the other

There are actually no biological markers for the diagnosis of schizophrenia & therefore this may not actually even exist as a disease entity. This is not to say that people do not experience psychosis, hallucinations, delusions & other altered states of mind. However, the primary causes of these altered states are nutritional deficiencies, allergies, drugs, alcohol, & medical illnesses. Be well!

Schizophrenia tends to run in families but no particular gene responsible .A combination of genes make one vulnerable to this disease. The risk of getting schizophrenia is higher for family members of affected with it than the general public.
