Your symptoms could very well be related to migraines, but may also be an indication of a retinal tear or detachment. The only way to rule out a retinal tear or detachment is with a dilated retinal exam.

Reassuring that eye specialist did not diagnose retinal or vitreous detachment, and this could be migraine, but it is acting a bit atypically. Hopefully, your eye doc was an ophthalmologist and performed a fully dilated and thorough exam. But if not, get a second opinion.
