A member asked:

I've been taking nitrofurantoin for 3 days and experiencing numbness in hands and feet. i called the doctor to switch meds. will this numbness if from the nitrofurantoin go away? how can i flush this medicine out of my system quickly?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

If this is a medication reaction causing toxicity to peripheral nerves, this should dissipate over 3-4 weeks after medication is D/C'd. Recommend a B-50 complex, once daily over the next 4-6 weeks. Otherwise, change medication and be patient.
