It can be a neuropathic pain, especially if skin over that area is also sensitive to touch. I will just observe it for now and you can take Ibuprofen OTC as needed if you do not have significant medical history. However, if the pain persists for days or gets worse, especially if you have some visual symptoms, you need to see your doctor to rule out a condition called temporal arteritis.

There are many reasons for chronic headaches, but most of these can be treated and controlled. If you are a "headache person", this may well be due to migraines, and would urge visit to a neurologist. Persistent pain over temple may be a presenting sign of giant cell arteritis and blood testing can rule this out.
