Husband 7 wks post op fem-pop bypass. lost balance and fell. now complaining of pain behind his knee in that leg. i googled it (stupid). is it likely a pulled muscle/sprain or do we need to worry about a clot? i wrapped it and he has been icing?

It could be a contusion and/or a sprain, but a blood clot so soon doesn't sound likely. I think he should be examined ASAP by the vascular surgeon in any event. In the meantime I agree with the use of icing and elevation of the leg.

Agree with Dr Colantino. Another possibility could be a hematoma from a damaged blood vessel, which may or may not be related to the bypass surgery, but the surgeon needs to know about it
