A member asked:

What is the likelihood of someone with an anxiety disorder developing a migraine condition?

4 doctors weighed in across 2 answers

Anxiety is not the cause of migraine, which is a genetic disorder causing inordinate sensitivity of the neurotransmitter glutamate (to be simplistic). Anxiety and panic attacks could be triggers of migraine episodes.

Those are two separate illnesses. Please have a physical exam to know if you have an illness. The migraine is an illness treated by a Neurologist and anxiety could be psychological treated by a Clinical Psychologist with expertise in multiple types of psychotherapy and Psychiatrist for medication.
