See ophthalmologist for pressure reading with applanation and exam of optic nerves. Many false readings occur with air puff measuring devices used by optometrists. Squeezing the eyelids while being measured also falsely increases the reading. If there is any optic nerve damage, pressure is actually high, this is easily treated with laser or drops. Causes: heredity, trauma, inflammation, others.
