A member asked:

I have read somewhere that cancer cannot be transferred through blood then why do blood banks not take donations from people who have cancer and reject them on the basis that they have cancer ?

People with cancer often are taking medications, or have low hemoglobin that usually disqualify them for blood donation. They are not disqualified for fear for transmitting cancer.

Theoretically, it could be transferred and circulating tumor cells are often found in many common cancers, even in early stages and following treatment.
