My gi found lymphangiectasia during an egd. the report said gastric mucosal lymphangiectasia in the gastric body. what does this mean? i also have pernicious anemia and autoimmune gastritis but normal gastrin levels. how serious is this?

Translation: Lumph= Having to do with the lymphatic system; angio=tubular structures that carries lymph fluid; ectasia= dilated, bigger in diameter than usual. By itself this is just a description. What it means in your case should be explained by the doc who knows your history/exam & why the test was done.

Agree with Dr. Ferguson. You and your doctor need to consult with the endoscopist. Lymphangiectasia can result in protein loss in the GI tract. Wish you good health!
